From November 23rd to 27th, we’re offering 20% off the price of new hearing aids if you bring in your old devices to trade in. Not only are you setting yourself up for success with state-of-the-art hearing aids, you are helping someone in need. Chelmsford and Nashua Hearing Group will be providing the donated hearing aids to a local chapter of the Lions Club Sight and Sound Foundation. This foundation provides assistance to those with no other resources to help them see or hear the world around them.
Lions Club Sight and Sound Foundation
Your donation helps those who need it most. Last year the Sight and Sound Foundation spent $40,000 serving 40 New Hampshire residents who were in need. They provided 70 hearing aids, 6 cataract surgeries and other major medical work to those who did not have the financial resources to pay for the devices or services they needed.
When to Upgrade Your Hearing Aids
Recognizing when it is time to upgrade your hearing aids is important to ensure minimal bumps on the road to communication efficiency. Signs it may be time for new hearing aids include:
- They are more than five years old.
- There is visible physical damage
- They don’t work as efficiently as before
- They have already been repaired at least once
- Your hearing loss worsens, and your current hearing aids aren’t powerful enough to compensate for your impairment
- Newer, better technology that will benefit your specific hearing needs or lifestyle has become available
Benefits of Upgrading Your Hearing Aids
Today’s hearing aids are built with state-of-the-art technology that allows people to hear and communicate effectively in many listening situations, from watching TV with family to conversing with friends in a busy restaurant.
Below are some of the surprising ways your hearing aids can improve your communication and increase your quality of life.
Hearing Aids Improve Your Mood
Hearing disorders have a strong association with depression. In fact, a survey by the National Council on Aging asked 2,300 adults with hearing loss about their symptoms. Of respondents with severe untreated hearing loss, 30% reported depressive symptoms compared to 22% for those who treated their severe impairment with hearing aids.
Hearing Aids Help Prevent Falls
Researchers at Johns Hopkins found that mild hearing loss can triple your risk of falling. This increases an additional 140 percent for every 10 dB decrease in hearing ability.
Hearing Aids Strengthen Your Relationships
Communication is key to healthy relationships with friends, family and your romantic partner. When you cannot hear well, communicating is very difficult. Your loved ones may feel frustrated about having to repeat themselves, and you likely feel isolated because of your hearing loss.
Choosing to treat your hearing loss with hearing aids doesn’t just benefit you — your whole family will be grateful you did.
