Our approach is about providing a unique treatment plan that will reconnect you to your listening world.
Diagnostic Evaluation and Explanation
Hearing loss is a progressive condition that often develops slowly. Many people are not aware of a change in their hearing because they gradually adapt to the subtle changes in their hearing ability over time. Studies indicate that it takes seven years, on average, for a hearing impaired individual to seek treatment.
We first diagnose your current hearing health by starting with the explanation of your diagnostic hearing evaluation. Audiological evaluations consist of a series of tests used to determine whether a hearing loss exists and, if so, measure its type, degree and configuration. Your audiologist will assess the results of each individual test in order to develop a treatment plan geared toward your individual hearing loss.
Discovery and Lifestyle Assessment
During your consultation, we will learn more about you, your lifestyle and identify how you wish to communicate and connect with your listening world. We will make a recommendation based on your hearing test, vision, dexterity/fine motor skills, cognition, anatomy, whether or not your hearing loss is likely to progress in the future, listening needs, and budget. During this appointment, you will also receive counseling to ensure you have realistic expectations regarding certain limitations of hearing devices. While hearing aids will undoubtedly improve your communication abilities, it is important to understand they are not a cure for hearing loss. Learning what to expect beforehand will help you receive maximum benefit from your devices and achieve long-term success.
Treatment Plan Recommendation and Fitting
We will then recommend a treatment plan for your particular hearing loss, lifestyle, and listening needs. If you choose to move forward, you will be contacted to schedule a fitting appointment to make sure your devices are fit and programmed specifically for and to you. We will check the physical fit to make sure they are comfortable. We will then program and make adjustments using the latest verification protocols.
Ongoing Patient Support and Satisfaction
During your subsequent follow-up visits, we will discuss care and maintenance of your hearing devices, where you will learn how to change the batteries, insert and remove your hearing devices and properly clean and care for them. It may take a while to adjust to your hearing aids, so additional appointments may be needed. We are committed to excellent care and service for every patient.
Lastly, treatment doesn’t end with the fitting, but proper maintenance is required for the hearing devices to function at their best. We recommend a visit to our office every 4-6 months to have your hearing devices professionally cleaned and checked. We stand by our patients and we are passionate because we understand what it means for you to be able to reconnect with your family, friends and community.
